Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, born April 26, 1991 and professionally referred to as Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and was the first female signing for J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. The first single, Pho was released on the 21st of October, 2016 and was released through Dreamville Records. She began to gain notoriety. Shea Butter Baby, her debut album, was released on the 7th of May, 2019. Ari Lennox uploaded her music online in 2012 after she released her the Five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. The year 2014 saw Ari Lennox release her single Bound, as well as her mixtape, which she released herself, Five Finger Discount. The track Sweat it is part of Omen's Elephant Eyes album which dropped on July 21st, 2015. J. Cole was interested in her talent and wanted to work in conjunction with Rihanna. The official signing ceremony was held with Dreamville Records on 8 December. Backseat was the result of her participation to the Revenge of the Dreamers II album. In the month of October, she released her first EP Pho. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change and also performed in her own 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as an opening artist. in 2018, the singer-songwriter appeared on two tracks by EarthGang On Nothing but the Best, and Bas On Icarus. Ari Lennox dropped her first single Whipped Cream off of Shea Butter Baby on July 16th. A music clip was followed by a video in September. On November 9, she released two additional singles, forty Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. In November 2013 she released No One, and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby is a track she sang with Cole on Creed II's soundtrack on 16 November. It then came out as a standalone single in February of 2019 to coincide with her debut album. In February 2019, the video music for the track debuted. It has had over three million YouTube views in just one week. In support of the track She toured with 6LACK during December 2018 on their From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
